Joy's Barista Bio
Joy began working at Shimoji Coffee in February of 2019. She was in search of a fun part-time job that would allow her to save up some extra money to explore different countries, and Shimoji just happened to be looking for a new barista at the time. When I asked Joy what her favorite part about working at Shimoji is she said with a grin, “Coffee!” Joy went on to explain that she enjoys talking to all of our customers and getting to know them.
Pineapple Mango Hibiscus Tea is one of Joy’s favorite drinks at Shimoji. She loves how sweet and tasty the duo of pineapple and mango are with the floral flavor of Hibiscus. Her other favorite drink is the Nitro Cold Brew. Nitro Cold Brew is slow brewed with cold water to extract a smoother, less bitter flavor. It’s also infused with nitrogen, which gives it a creaminess and subtle sweetness. Joy loves how smooth the Nitro Cold Brew is. Joy’s favorite baked good is the Cinnamon Sugar Scone.
Joy is married with one kid, five rescue dogs, three rescue cats, and two rescue horses. Currently, she is also hosting a foreign exchange student from Slovakia! During her time outside of Shimoji, Joy runs a farm and owns her own business, which is a livestock breeding business. She enjoys gardening and horseback riding during her free time. Currently, Joy is saving up for a vacation to Europe, where she will visit France, Switzerland, and Italy! Joy believes that everyone should travel outside of their home country at least once in their life. Her favorite place that she has traveled to so far is Denmark. She loves how laid back the people in Denmark are and how much they value family.
